Coronado, November 11th    The Coronado Schools Foundation Annual Dinner Auction on Saturday was a smashing success as guests took the “License to Chill” to heart and celebrated in true Tommy Bahama-style at the “Party in Paradise” benefitting Coronado’s public schools at the Hotel del Coronado.  Premier Partner Pacific Western Bank’s underwriting and Major Underwriting Partner Hotel del Coronado’s support, added significantly to the financial success of the evening.  From the volunteer set up crew for the auction on Saturday morning to the NJROTC Islander Company Cadets and parents who worked the silent auction in the beautiful Crown Room that night, over 150 volunteers and 400 dinner guests made the 25th anniversary of the dinner auction a night to remember.  170 of the guests enjoyed the VIP reception from 5-6 pm with the auction preview, and upscale food and drinks, thanks to underwriting by Chairs Wanda Aurich and Pam Hammett and their husbands, Scott and Phil.  “When the rest of our guests joined us at 6 pm, the party was in full swing and the more casual Island Elegant attire seemed to make everyone feel very comfortable and engaged,” noted an excited Wanda Aurich.  “To see so many people come together in support of our public schools for a fun-filled evening was a joy to behold.” Read More>

CSF 25th Anniversary Dinner Auction:
Party in Paradise: License to Chill

CORONADO, June 4th  - Coronado Schools Foundation’s Dinner Auction on November 7th, marking the 25th anniversary of this benefit event, will be a party like you’ve never seen before. “This year we’ve come full circle from 1984 when Sally Zoll and Carol Raiter began the black tie gala, despite many saying just make it a spaghetti dinner,” commented 2009 Co-Chair Pam Hammett. “In light of the economy, to keep the event fresh for our returning guests and to bring in our younger families, we’ve revamped the timeline and streamlined the auctions. We are elated that our Presenting Partner, Hotel del Coronado, had the gorgeous Crown Room available for the silent auction and the nearby Grand Ballroom for dinner and dancing.”

Coronado Schools Foundation Gala Rocked the SS CSF at Hotel Del

The SS CSF has docked after a fabulous gala sail on Saturday November 1st, benefitting Coronado’s public schools. It was all hands on deck at the Hotel Del Coronado as a great crew showed up Friday afternoon and all day Saturday to turn the Del’s Crown, Coronet and Grande Hall rooms into a shipworthy silent and live auction and a fabulous dinner and dancing party for more than 500 guests. It was a staggering amount of work, but the numerous volunteers were smiling and cheerful as they scurried about creating the tranformation. “The event was an amazing tribute to the children in our community. My wife and I enjoyed our first gala experience immensely, but we enjoyed the people in attendance even more. This community is not only warm and friendly, but incredibly generous with their time and money,” commented Dr. Jeffrey Felix, Superintendent, Coronado Unified School District (CUSD).

Technology and Art a Lively Mix at Village Elementary

One person can make a difference and local resident and business owner Jill Hardman exemplifies that trait. She is a long time supporter of the visual and fine arts programs in Coronado’s public schools. Recently, she saw her generosity for the arts put to use in a unique way at Village Elementary when she visited the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) classroom of Mrs. Lissy Rooney. Ms. Hardman’s financial support, via the Coronado Schools Foundation (CSF), makes art comes alive through art-related equipment and supplies. This time she was amazed to see how technological tools greatly enhanced the art experience for a classroom of eager fourth graders.
