Martial Arts America, a Coronado Schools Foundation Friend for Life Corporate Member who has donated $15,000 since 2006, hosted a Karate Party for two winning elementary school classes whose students won the “I watched the Telethon Contest,” facilitated by the Coronado Schools Foundation (CSF) . Record funds of $155,000 were raised on March 12th for Coronado’s public schools at the 20th Annual Coronado Idol Telethon, presented by Time Warner Cable. Presenting Partner Martial Arts America and Hour Partner NadoLife (Mootime/Village Pizzeria and Beach-n-Diner) joined together to host a weekend party, complete with cool karate kicks with pizza and ice cream from Village Pizzeria and Mootime.

“This was no ordinary party,” commented Sensei Miko Peled, owner of Martial Arts America. ” We were happy to partner with David Spatafore’s restaurants to host this party with lucky students from Mrs. Riddle’s 2nd grade Village class and Ms. Galvez’s 5th grade class from Silver Strand. The students, their parents and teachers enjoyed a fun-filled afternoon and learned new moves while enjoying great food.”

“It takes a village to continue to raise record funds for our public schools and the support of our local business owners is significant. Miko and David are both parents of Coronado public school children and give generously in support of public education,” added Patty Cowan, CSF Executive Director. “We encourage our supporters to shop locally and give back to those business owners who help us maintain what equates in many ways to a private school education in a public school setting.”

Martial Arts America has been a long time supporter of Coronado’s public schools. “In 1994 we raised $5,000 for the playground equipment to open the new kindergarten back then. Coronado’s public schools have come so far since then,” added Sensei Peled.
