CORONADO, September 23rd – Coronado Schools Foundation Dinner Auction Committee has revamped the 25th Anniversary of this annual “must attend” event and invites you to attend the November 7th Party with Jim Laslavic, Channel 7 Sports Director as Master of Ceremonies. Leave your tux and formal gown at home this year, when you head on over to the Hotel Del in your “island elegant” attire and enjoy a more casual yet still elegant and vibrant evening of Celebrating Great Schools, Great Kids…..Party in Paradise……..License to Chill!
For the first time in the dinner auction’s history, Diamond Level Guests will be treated to a VIP Reception in the Crown Room from 5-6 pm with a hosted Martini Bar, upscale wines, beer and hors d’oeuvres, and one-of-a-kind silent auction items that will close out by the end of the VIP event. All Gold Level Event guests will be welcomed at 6 pm for the Champagne Reception joining the Diamond guests, complete with Hotel Del champagne, Coronado Brewing Company ales, and delicious appetizers to enjoy while viewing the silent auction array of unique packages for all to bid on. “With the revised time line this year, we will not be offering any “reception only” tickets due to the VIP event. Thus far, we have sold a record number of Diamond Level tables as many seem to want to be part of the new VIP Reception and the invitations haven’t even gone out yet, “commented Dinner Auction Chair Pam Hammett, chairing the event with Wanda Aurich, CSF Board Member. While both the Hammett and Aurich children have long graduated from Coronado High, both feel a commitment to public education, especially in light of the state’s fiscal crisis.
All guests will then enjoy a “Tommy Bahama”-themed sit down meal in the Grande Ballroom, created by the talented Hotel Del Culinary Team under the direction of Executive Chef John Shelton with Executive Sous Chef Michael Catalano, Banquet Chef Christian Weldon, and Executive Pastry Chef Daphne Higa. “From the hors’deurves through all three extraordinary courses, our guests will be treated to a meal sure to please the most discriminating pallets,” noted CSF Development Coordinator Kyp Griffin. “The Live Auction will be held during dinner so guests will have more time to dance to the fun and talented dance band Party Quake. Immediately following dinner, we’ll give our coveted Merchant Award and select the winner for both the Opportunity Grand Prize of a 10-day all inclusive stay for two (or 7 days for four) at the Peninsula Hotel in Greece with $2,000 towards airfare and the second prize of two great cruiser bikes.”
Once-in-a-Lifetime Experience Packages are the focus of Auction Packages and a sampling to data include a Picnic with a Padre, a Dinner with Wine Pairings hosted by a Brigantine Family of Restaurant Head Chef, trips to exotic destinations including Europe, Hawaii and Mexico, a custom playhouse for your kids courtesy of Cavanaugh Construction, the ever popular Behind the Scenes with Jane Mitchell of Channel 4/San Diego, a Pampered Pet Package from Wag n’Tails, a Discover Wellness Package that will be a perfect holiday gift for someone special, and so many more. “We welcome donations and are so appreciative of the generosity of our parents, community, and friends over the bridge,” noted Silent Auction Co-Chair Kate Shallan. “You will not be disappointed and we are sure to have packages to accommodate everyone’s interests and budgets. We have a number of great photography packages, too, to commemorate your families’ special moments.”
