Coronado Marriott Island Resort Hosts CSF President’s Reception

May 21st, 2008. The Coronado Schools Foundation announced at its annual President’s Reception that the Foundation will provide record supplemental program funding for the 2008-09 school year, an 11% increase over the prior year thanks to the generosity of parents, businesses, community members, and volunteers. The event, hosted by the Coronado Island Marriott, serves as the Foundation’s annual thank-you reception to donors at the superintendent level and above.

“This year we expanded the invitation list to include all teachers and support staff who contributed to the foundation at any level financially,” commented foundation President Jeffrey Kob.   “It was our pleasure to welcome those individuals who directly benefit from the generosity of our donors through block grants, funding for Technology Resource Teachers at each school, designated donations, special fundraising projects, and scholarships for graduating high school seniors,” he added.

The program began with a Presentation of the Colors from Coronado High School NJROTC Islander Company under the direction of 1st SGT Martin Galegos.  The Foundation continued its annual appeal for new Friends for Life campaign and welcomed 18 new Friends for Life members who have committed to donate $5,000 over five years.  Retiring Superintendent Dr. Sue Coyle thanked the foundation for returning over $3.5 million dollars to the schools since 1982.

Guests enjoyed delicious desserts  and coffee donated by the Marriott, Miguel’s Cocina, Mootime Creamery, Tartine Cafe, and Trader Joe’s. Donor Recognition Chair Cindy Ribant Swain shared a year in review of the Foundation’s successes in a slide show to music that was enjoyed by all.

“We are excited to return record funding to the schools this year and look forward to the community’s continued support for the next school year,” added Kob.  For more information, contact CSF offices at 437-8059 or visit the website at www.csfkids.org .
