We Will Aim for the Stars
Coronado – September 15th - “Change is good”, says Kate Shallan, chair for the Coronado Schools Foundation signature fundraising Extravaganza, Aim for the Stars Auction, to be held in the Hotel Del’s Oceanfront Ballroom on Saturday November 13 from 6-9 pm. “We have re-imagined this annual event into a high energy, fun auction party featuring gourmet food stations highlighting the best the Del’s culinary team has to offer. The evening has been streamlined to minimize expenses, maximize entertainment value, and focus on the ultimate goal of returning as much money as possible to our public schools. By lowering the ticket price to $100 per person, we are hoping for an early sell out.” more>

Technology and Art a Lively Mix at Village Elementary

One person can make a difference and local resident and business owner Jill Hardman exemplifies that trait. She is a long time supporter of the visual and fine arts programs in Coronado’s public schools. Recently, she saw her generosity for the arts put to use in a unique way at Village Elementary when she visited the Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) classroom of Mrs. Lissy Rooney. Ms. Hardman’s financial support, via the Coronado Schools Foundation (CSF), makes art comes alive through art-related equipment and supplies. This time she was amazed to see how technological tools greatly enhanced the art experience for a classroom of eager fourth graders.
